1-4-15 Violet threw her
first strike with the bowling set they got from Jack for their birthday. She
waved her arms and screamed, then clapped her hands and screamed, and then
looked at me and said, “Yeah!” and gave me a huge hug!!
Violet loves chocolate
chip pancakes!! Daddy makes them on Sunday mornings. She gets the chocolate all
over her face!
Lily has started asking “Why?
Why?” and saying “Help!” (Sounds like halp!)
They love “cleaning” the
floor with the big flower. It's as tall as they are! They’ll put it upside down
and sweep and vacuum. Lily says, “I ceen up.”
Lily gets so concerned
if you cry. “You ok mama? You ok?” Serious face and all. Also, she puts ie’s on
everything... silly goosie, bibbie, shoesies. Tonight Lily is rolling around on
the floor saying, “I funny! I funny, Mama!”
Violet loves her
pennies! She counts them and puts them in her little bag or a cup and shakes
them up! Somehow one ended up in the bath with her too!
They both love their
dollies and strollers!!
1-4-15 I thought I’d try
to play hide and seek with the girls. I started counting and covered my eyes
and they both stood up and looked at me weird. I thought maybe they’d had
played it at Mary’s. I guess not! Soon they started covering their eyes and
counting with me. I decided to be the one to hide then. I’d try to sneak away
before they noticed, but two year olds peek when they count! I did manage to
hide a few times. Once behind the table and once in the kitchen. They laughed
so hard when they found me! Then they’d shout, “Again, again!” If I managed to
sneak away before they could peek it was quite amusing! Once I hid in the front
living room. They couldn’t find me! They started saying, “Mama? Mama?” getting
more and more concerned! They were relieved when I popped out from my hiding
place!
1-6-15 Lily repeats
things until she knows it! Ryan said, “I'll give you a bubble bath tonight!”
She then exclaimed, “Bubble bath!" 17 times!!
Mary said that the girls
are so good at reading books and so expressive! They are always pointing to
things and making animal sounds. They were in the kitchen eating, and Mary was
in the other room reading Old MacDonald and asked what animal is that? Lily shouted,
“Cow!!"
1-7-15 Violet still sits
on the potty almost every day. Today she sat right down and peed! Hooray! We
want every potty practice to be a positive experience! I give them mini M&M’s
if they sit without their diaper on.
Violet wore her owl
sockies today. When she took off her shoes, she pointed to each sock and said,
“Owl, owl!"
Lily's been saying “Love
it!" If you say, I love you, Lily, she says love it! She'll sing or make
something or draw something and ask you, love it?
We've definitely had at
least one temper tantrum per day lately, but most don't last long and are
getting easier to deal with. She's so independent. If you are in her business,
trying to help with anything, she'll often freak out. Other times, much more
often than the tantrums, she's kind and sweet and helpful. She loves doing
things and getting things for all three of us and is still so lovey. Kisses and
hugs, but not too much snuggling! She's too busy for that!!
1-13-15 I say, “Violet,
tell daddy thank you!" She says, “Gal-come!" (for you’re welcome!)
1-14-15 Lily wanted to
watch a show, but I said that it's not working. She put out her bottom lip and
frowned. I did it too. She said, “No Mama, my do that."
Their mylar birthday
balloons are still floating. Violet points to them like she's never seen them
before, and says, “Elmo! Co-Co!" (for Cookie Monster).
1-16-15 They love seeing
buses when we drive home from Mary's house. They're always on the look out! They
ask me, “Another one?”
They still love their
“lip” (chapstick) and can put it on themselves, but Violet likes putting it on
her cheek!!
1-20-14 Lily makes a
pile-tower of magformers, takes a step back, throws her hands out to the side,
and says, “Ah-da!!" Ta da. Mary said that as soon as she says it's time
for yoga, Violet goes into down dog!
1-24-15 Violet loves
singing Twinkle Little Star. Her high little voice sounds so sweet!!
1-27-15 Lily saying,
“Dolly, juuust right!" in bed tonight before she fell asleep. Violet was
hyper after dinner! She was singing and making her dog dance! She was lifting
up the lion and bear chairs and “vacuuming" with the big flower. They took
turns and Lily said, “I ceenin up!"
I want to get them a little
broom set for Valentine's Day, maybe a little vacuum too!
1-28-15 The first thing
Lily told me this morning was, “Mama, my sleepy well me!" Violet still says
you're welcome when you tell her to say thank you. She says “gal-gome!”
1-29-15 We took them to
the doctor today for their two-year-old well visit appointment. They did
great!!! They only had to take off their shoes this time for weighing. Violet
weighs exactly 20 pounds and Lily weighs 22.4 pounds! We had to undress them
down to their diapers and wait for Dr. Cox. They had some pink blanket/sheets
that we wrapped them up in and they thought that was so fun! Lily brought a
bear and Violet brought a doggy. When the doctor came in, they showed her their
dollies. We’ve been practicing doctor stuff with the doctor set Mary gave them
for their birthday. Dr. Cox showed them her little light and let them put their
finger on it to turn it red. Then she said, “My light has a hat!” She looked in
the doggy’s and bear’s ears, and then the girls. They had no problem with that!
With the stethoscope, she said, “Here’s some peas, strawberries, I hear some
oatmeal and blueberries!” as she listened to their heart and lungs. At the end
she said that only about 15% of kids this age let her look in their mouths and
usually they have an older sibling show them how to do it. First she looked at
Violet and she had her tongue out, but was wiggling her fingers on her tongue.
Then she looked at Lily and she had her tongue out ready for Dr. Cox! Then she
looked back to Violet and she had her tongue out too! After she looked at their
mouths, she said, “Wow, girls! High fives!” She only had good things to say
about the girls’ health! And lucky us, no shots this visit! Just a little check
for lead. She left and the girls played Peek-a-boo with the blanket/sheets
until the nurse came back in for the lead test. They got little Tweety Bird
band-aids and are lead-free. Yay! At home all afternoon, they both had one sock
on and one sock off so they could look at the birdy on their band-aids. I took
the whole day off and we just stayed home and played all day.
Doctor set and gears from Mary for their birthday.
Checking on dolly!
They love having these blankets tied around them! So silly!
Daddy's shoes
They love broccoli!
I caught a spider and they were SO interested in it!
Silly Violet!
It's Little Bear and friends! At the Maurice Sendak art exhibit at the City Library.
